Anything is possible. Invitation to step into the role of a visionary leader

Things change, disruption happens, as they should. With change comes the need for adaptation, for fresh thinking and sometimes a total reboot.


But how many times have you been told: “No, you can't do that”?


My mind flips to Eliud Kipchoge who recently broke the 2-hour marathon barrier, a challenge that many professional runners and experts alike said was impossible (beyond the limits of human performance).


The cynicism was so intense that naysayers were still at it post the event:

“It’s just a Nike marketing gimmick to sell more shoes”

“You can’t choose your own marathon course”

“You can’t keep dropping in fresh sets of pace runners”


So how did Kipchoge do it?


The answer may lie, not in the HOW, but the WHY.


“It’s not about winning (or getting an official record). It’s about telling the world that anything is possible when you put in your heart and mind” - Eliud Kipchoge

He expects more people all over the world to run under 2 hours after this.

And Kipchoge didn’t do it alone. He broke the 2-hour marathon barrier surrounded by leaders in their own right. From fellow world-class runners who helped maintain the 1:59:59 pace, to the teams of scientists & designers who applied the most advanced technology and sports science behind the scenes. They too believed, with their hearts and minds.



What does this mean for us?


I see this as an invitation for us to step into the role of a visionary leader, to believe that anything is possible, and inspire others to believe, too. When you have a clear and authentic vision of what you want to achieve, no matter the odds, the right people will naturally gravitate towards you because you are charismatic, focused and determined, and they believe in you and your vision.
