Building your leadership brand.
We all love to be loved.
We all want to be loved. We want to be respected and be seen as someone 100% awesome at what we do. Like how we're always perfect in our mum’s eyes.
The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. – Neil Gaiman
And deep down, somewhere in the nether regions of our consciousness, we want to leave a legacy - something that says: Here’s my life’s work. It made a difference. I created something GREAT. I wasn’t just a selfish little clod of ailments and grievances.
But we don’t go around shouting, “I want to build a legacy!” Oh no, we keep that our little secret. We hold it close to our chests. Why?
The problem with greatness
We say that we want to achieve greatness, but there’s this little problem: If you want to achieve greatness, then it has to be more than just a job that pays the bills. It has to be more than just business. Achieving greatness requires a personal commitment. Put simply, no CEO, athlete or artist has ever reached great heights without putting their hearts into it.
There's a pesky little voice in your head that goes, “You’re meant to do something bigger.” But it doesn’t tell you what it is. You try to google it, but three hours later, you have a splitting headache. And still no answer. You want clarity, but all you find is confusion.
It can feel like the edge of despair. But this is also the edge of greatness, if you hold the space to reflect and learn from it. You've been searching for answers in all the wrong places. You've been hoping that Google will tell you your PURPOSE - what you are born to do. What we’re talking about here is not big data. This is deep data. It’s your future wanting to emerge from the murky depths of your mind. If it makes you feel lost and directionless, that’s good news. The mystery of your legacy is calling you. To take action. You might not feel ready: “Why should I do that?” I can give you all the tried-and-true reasons: to live your best life, to fulfil your highest potential. But only you know the truth: Because you can’t not do it.
Our Deepest Fear Is Not That We Are Inadequate. Our Deepest Fear Is That We Are Powerful Beyond Measure. - Marianne Williamson
At PERSONNA, we have researched this phenomenon for many years, and we’ve designed the Power Book process to help people take that first step - a giant leap. After all, this is essentially what leadership is: the willingness to take the first step.
The Power Book articulates the thing you believe you are uniquely positioned to do. The thing that you fundamentally believe you are the best person in the world to do. Where you have a unique proposition, given your story, to solve that problem. YOU’RE QUALIFIED TO DO THIS.
Use the Power Book to tell your story. Authentically. That story scales. It connects with people. You don’t need to impress the whole wide world. You just need to connect with a small group of people. Five people to start a movement. One person to get to the next round of job interview. This authenticity becomes a powerful beacon to inspire people to act courageously and rise to the challenge together.
“Every revolution was first a thought in one person’s mind, and when the same thought occurs to another person, it is the key to that era.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
So if you’re looking to dig into the deep data to derive breakthrough insights, or you’re stepping into a new leadership role (one size too big!) or looking for your next big challenge, we’ll love to work with you to create your Power Book. It can also be fun to do this as a team too. Let’s talk.
